This past weekend, we held our first cooking classes at Hacienda Eco-Domes.  Chef Betty held classes on both Saturday and Sunday.  The students participated and hand kneaded maize dough to create fresh tortillas, made pico-de gallo salsa fresh from the garden and created some delicious ranch-style Enchiladas from scratch.  It was a hot weekend so we made fresh ice-cold Jamaica to keep us cool.

Hope, Jeffrey, and Joe visited us from Seattle, California and Michigan

Our students this weekend came from all over the world; USA (California, Hawaii, Washington, Michigan), India, and China.

Cooking is a fundamental life skill that everyone can benefit from. Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or a complete novice in the kitchen, there are always new techniques to learn and skills to improve. One of the best ways to enhance your culinary abilities is by attending a cooking class.

Cooking classes offer the perfect opportunity to learn new cooking skills and techniques that you might not discover on your own. Betty is our professional chef. She is from the mountain ranches of Sinaloa in North Central Mexico. She was raised on a ranch where there was no electricity, phones, or any of the modern conveniences most of us are used to. So it was milking cows, fetching water from the local stream and making food from scratch; old skool!

Betty teaches the traditional historical ways of Mexico and also educates on how moderns add to Mexican food and enhance it with an international flavor. Betty has studied culinary arts in the USA, France, Greece, Austria and Italy. She’s well-traveled and well-rounded. So she offers international skills enhancing the class even further.

Finally, besides learning new creatives to cook, our cooking class is a great way to mee

Cooking classes encourage creativity in the kitchen. With access to new ingredients and recipes, you can experiment with different flavors and cooking styles. Classes often introduce participants to international cuisines, unique ingredients, and innovative cooking methods. This exposure can inspire you to think outside the box and create your own unique dishes, making mealtime more exciting and varied.

Cooking classes are a great way to meet people who share your passion for food and cooking. Whether you’re attending a class alone or with friends, you’ll have the chance to socialize and connect with others who have similar interests. This sense of community can make the learning experience more enjoyable and can even lead to lasting friendships. Sharing your culinary journey with others can be both fun and motivating.
